Application of Barycenter Drive to the Structural Design of Horizontal Machine Center

This paper introduced the principle of barycenter drive and the structural features of the high-speed horizontal boring and milling machining center.The application of barycenter drive to the structural design of horizontal machining center was also highlighted.The analysis of dynamic and static characteristics on the high-speed horizontal boring and milling machining center which adopted barycenter drive was taken by the finite element analysis software with the deformation,stress and first four natural frequencies and vibration models obtained.The results showed that dynamic and static characteristics of high-speed horizontal boring and milling machining center were good.Therefore,barycenter drive as a new method of feed driving could greatly decrease the vibration of machining center and improve its static and dynamic characteristics.
