Digital grid: Full of renew able energy in the future

Many of advanced countries shift to renewable age, to reduce fossil fuel consumptions, to moderate climate change, and most importantly to maintain energy security in future. Many of developing countries accelerate grid extensions. However, most of the lower population zone are not cost effective to apply the conventional grid architecture. They realize that the shift to renewable energy will be promising. To fully utilize renewable energy, it is necessary to develop new grid architecture. We propose “Digital Grid” as one of the candidates for future grid architectures. Digital Grid is a new concept of multiple electrical grids (called “cell”), connecting each other asynchronously. In the cell grid, we are free from conventional electrical constraints and can create a new type of distributed market base power system. We introduce Digital Grid Router (DGR) that has IP address and GPS time signal to communicate each other through internet very accurately. Distributed servers will record all the transactions of power and its properties. Digital Grid will be most promising power system for renewable penetration because we can use existing infrastructure with plenty of inverters. We can utilize full of renewable energy in the future.
