Abstract For simplicity, two rotor, for bearing systems are considered. From numerical analysis of typical examples, it is deduced that when the two rotors are the same, the best stability is obtained from zero-misalignment; in cases where they are different, the best stability results from, in general, a certain amount of misalignment. In the latter case, a suitbale intentional misalignment can be useful for better stability. Quasi-catenary alignment is assumed
