120 consecutive in-patients with hysterical neurosis have been studied on sociodemographic and clinical factors. Females outnumbered the males. Nearly two third of patients were between 15 34 years. Fits were the most commonly seen in 59% of patients followed by bodyaches in 19% and fainting attacks in 17%. We could elicit precipitating factors in 60% of our cases. Results have been compared with earlier Indian studies on hysteria.
