This paper focuses on how the balance shaft acts on the motions of engine mounts. The static and dynamic balance of 3-cylinder, 4-cycle engine are discussed on the basis of force and moment equilibrium. As the engine speeds up, it is necessary to eliminate the out-of-balance moments by setting the balance shaft. But the setup of balance shaft results in the increase of engine shape and weight Therefore, the engine vibration analysis with and without balance shaft is required at an early engine design stage. In three types of engine driving conditions(1500rpm-full load, 4600rpm-full load, and 7000rpm-no load), the vibration velocities in the engine mounts with and without balance shaft are computed and compared through multibody dynamic simulation using DADS.
