Stability considerations for a tunnel diode circuit

Abstract The stability criteria for a circuit consisting of a tunnel diode in series with a resistance ( 1 G ) and an inductance (L) and a capacitance (C) across the tunnel diode, are discussed. The effect of the parameters L, C, and G is studied by considering three two-dimensional cross sections (G,g), (L,g) and (C,g), where g is the variational conductance of the tunnel diode. It is shown that for any g less than zero, the question of stability or instability at a given static point (g,G) is also influenced by the parameters L and C. Also, this approach takes into account both static and dynamic factors of equilibrium.
