Dynamic Experiments with Group of Piles

Dynamic experiments with a large group of closely spaced, small piles were conducted in the field in order to verify the different theories available and to examine the applicability of some simplified approaches such as the concept of the equivalent pier. Forced oscillations in the vertical, horizontal, and torsional directions were investigated. Limited static tests were also carried out. An artificial soil mixture was designed to closely simulate the properties of the natural deposit. Some comparisons are presented in a companion paper. However, it is the writers' purpose to provide data which could be used by other researchers as well.
