User Assignment Algorithms for Energy-Efficiency-Aware Multiple Access Systems

An energy-efficiency-aware multiple access (EMA) system selects an energy-efficient channel access method, either time-division multiple access or space-division multiple access, for each frequency subband. We propose polynomial-complex and greedy-based user assignment algorithms for the EMA system. By conducting complexity analysis and energy efficiency comparison, we verify that the proposed algorithms can significantly improve energy efficiency with practically tractable complexity.
