DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF A ROD DUE TO A MOVING HEAT SOURCE UNDER THE HYPERBOLIC HEAT CONDUCTION MODEL

Abstract The dynamic thermal and elastic behavior of a rod due to a moving heat source are investigated. The hyperbolic heat conduction model is used for the prediction of the temperature history. Thermally induced displacements and stresses are determined. An analytical–numerical technique based on the Laplace transformation and the Riemann-sum approximation is used to calculate the temperature, displacement and stress distributions within the rod. The effects of different parameters such as the moving source speed, the convection heat transfer coefficient are studied and presented.
