A method for enhancing of input signals of a hearing aid, in which, using an AGC circuit, a compression of the captured by the hearing aid signals takes place in dependence on the signal level of the input signal, characterized in that in order to ensure a dynamic range compression in addition to detecting the signal level of the input signal a signal analysis in the form of a modulation frequency analysis is performed and the behavior of the dynamic compression is varied based on the result of the signal analysis.
