Ototoxic side-effects of high doses of frusemide in patients with uraemia

Fast infusion of high doses of frusemide (1000 mg in 40 minutes) produced acute hearing loss in half the subjects studied, maximum in the middle range of frequencies. These losses were reversible. They appear to be influenced by the infusion rate and dosage.
