Device and method for managing a vehicle operating state

A vehicle operating condition profile may be determined for a given route while also considering constraints imposed, such as deviations from time targets, deviations from maximum allowed speed limits, etc. Given instantaneous vehicle speed, engine condition, and transmission condition, the present disclosure optimally manages the engine map and transmission. to indicate a recommended vehicle operating condition that optimizes fuel consumption in transitioning from a vehicle state to a destination state. Exemplary embodiments provide off-line and on-line optimizations in terms of fuel economy. The advantage is an improved transport efficiency when transporting cargo from a take-off to a destination by minimizing fuel consumption and maintaining driveability.
