The EHHH-linkage☆

Abstract Most single-loop 4-bar overconstrained lower-paired linkages with mobility one have now been isolated. The solutions of all but three appear in publications and/or dissertations. Of the three, the HHCC -loop has recently been fully analysed and will be published separately. The subject of the present paper is the solution of the EHHH -chain. This and the SHHH -loop are especially difficult to treat because of the number of screw joints present. By means of a theorem published earlier, however, the EHHH -linkage is made amenable to analysis, using closure equation algebra and the spherical indicatrix.
