RESPONSE SURFACE METHODOLOGY FOR CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR IMPELLER OPTIMIZATION DESIGN PART I: DESIGN METHOD

This paper focuses on the optimization design method of centrifugal impeller, which com- bines three dimensional viscosity flow analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE) technology and the Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The RSM is introduced in this paper, the advantage and dis- advantage of different DOE methods and the influence of grid in CFD solution are discussed. In the parameterization of impeller geometry, the blade is constructed by the inverse design method with given vortex distribution and the meridional is described by B-spline. Examples show that this method is fast and effective.
