On the cost of protection in optical slot switching rings with elastic transponders

We propose an optimal network dimensioning model for different configurations of optical slot switching metropolitan rings with elastic-rate transponders. Sharing transponders across the two ring directions along with standard “shared protection” minimizes protection cost.
