Eletrophoretic display device and method for driving the same

An eletrophoretic display device and a method for driving the same are provided to minimize power consumption by disconnecting overall source voltages supplied to the eletrophoretic display device while images are not varied. An eletrophoretic display device includes an eletrophoretic display unit(100), a thin film transistor substrate(200), a driver(300), a switching unit(400), an inspection unit(500), and a controller(600). The eletrophoretic display unit maintains display image even when a source voltage is connected. The thin film transistor substrate attached the eletrophoretic display unit drives the eletrophoretic display unit. The driver, which is connected to the eletrophoretic display unit and the thin film transistor substrate, supplies image signals for driving the eletrophoretic display unit. The switching unit switches the operation of the driver. The inspection unit inspects an inputted image signal. The controller compares the inputted image signal with display image signals, which are inputted in advance, and drives the driver by driving the switching unit when the inputted image signal is not equal to the display image signals.
