IMACS transactions on scientific computation - 85

The changes currently taking place in computer technology are reflected in the scope of this book, offering a cross section of ongoing research and applications in this area of scientific computation. The first section is devoted to the still significant questions of round-off error analysis and computer arithmetic, with following sections addressing general theoretical questions in numerical analysis and the construction of general purpose algorithms. The remaining papers represent the growth in applications. Two particular fields of numerical computing application (computational fluid dynamics and acoustics) are discussed and shown to be research tools which can supplement experimentation when testing new theories and mathematical models.
