Thermocautery Capsulotomy in a Child with Juvenile Arthritis-Related Cataract

Cataract surgery in pediatric uveitic patients is often arduous and can be related to many intraoperative and postoperative complications. Pediatric cataract surgeons can use several techniques to perform a capsulorhexis, including vitrectorrhexis, can-opener capsulotomy, radiofrequency diathermy capsulotomy, plasma ablation blade, or even the use of a femtosecond laser, but published reports about the technique used to perform a capsulorhexis in uveitic pediatric cataract are sparse.We report a case of pediatric uveitic cataract where the surgeon successfully used thermocautery capsulotomy with excellent postoperative inflammationmanagement.
