Restraining low frequency oscillation of UHV power grid using PSS and SVC

Based on 2012’s local UHV power grid programming,a practical scheme to restrain low frequency oscillation is put forward.The leading oscillation mode of tie line is searched by Prony analysis.In regard to the intra-area low frequency oscillation mode,PSS is deployed inside the generators most relevant to this mode.As to the inter-area mode,SVC with additional damping control is used.By setting fault at the end terminal of tie line,the effect of power oscillation restraint with PSS or SVC is simulated with PSASP.Results show that,the design is effective and applicable to engineering project.
