[Internet and video games among students of Reunion Island in 2010: uses, misuses, perceptions and associated factors].

Resume Position du probleme Decrire les usages d’Internet et des jeux video et quantifier les usages problematiques associes. Methodes Une enquete transversale descriptive a ete realisee en 2010 aupres des etudiants frequentant les services de medecine preventive de l’universite de La Reunion. Les pratiques d’Internet et des jeux video ont ete recueillies par questionnaire auto-administre. Les usages problematiques ont ete reperes a l’aide d’outils specifiques (criteres de Young et criteres de Tejeiro) et aussi par des questions auto-evaluatives. Des donnees sur les evenements de vie a potentiel traumatique et les consommations de produits psycho-actifs ont egalement ete collectees. Des modeles de regression logistique ont ete utilises pour identifier les eventuels facteurs associes aux usages problematiques. Resultats Basee sur un echantillon de 1119 sujets, cette etude a montre que les etudiants reunionnais etaient tres concernes par les usages d’Internet et des jeux video (respectivement 98 % et 46 %). La prevalence de l’usage problematique d’Internet a ete estimee a 6 % des enquetes. Les usages problematiques des jeux video concernaient 8 % des etudiants (18 % des joueurs de jeux video). Les jeunes interroges ne semblaient pas conscients de leurs pratiques problematiques et etaient demandeurs d’informations. Le public enquete presentait des situations de vulnerabilite frequentes (evenements de vie traumatisants ; consommations de produits psycho-actifs). Des associations significatives (sans caractere de causalite) ont pu etre mises en evidence, en particulier entre les usages problematiques et les evenements de vie a potentiel traumatique. Conclusion Ces premieres estimations de prevalence de l’usage problematique d’Internet et des jeux video a La Reunion sont importantes pour favoriser au niveau local la prise de conscience collective sur ces addictions comportementales. Ces resultats doivent contribuer a guider les actions locales de prevention et de prise en charge, notamment aupres des jeunes generations. Mais il est necessaire de mener d’autres travaux a partir des pistes degagees dans cette etude, pour mieux identifier les facteurs associes a ces pratiques problematiques (determinants, comorbidites addictives…).
