The experimental method and Finite Element Method(FEM) have been used to find the mechanism of the Jump Out phenomenon of the Reverse Shift Lever which happens as the speed of the car increases drastically. It turned out that the Jump Out phenomenon is due to the pulling force which occurs when the Idler Gear is separated from the Input and Output Gear. The deformation of the gear teeth and the deflection of the axes cause the Jump Out of the Reverse Shift Lever and the Idler Gear, and it can be prevented by increasing the Taper and Contact Length of the gears.
