Carbon nanotubes deposited on the surface of alloy contained Fe and Ni by pyrolysis flame

Carbon nanotubes were synthesized directly on the alloy contained Fe and Ni surface coated by iron nano-powder catalyst from the V-type pyrolysis flame. Scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope were used to characterize the morphology and structure of carbon nanotubes. The results show that luxuriant carbon nanotubes with high yield and purity were fabricated on the alloy surface. The carbon nanotubes are 22–25 nm in outer diameter, 8~12nm in inner diameter and approximately 5 nm in wall thickness. It also indicates that alloy contained Fe and Ni is more suitable for synthesis of carbon nanotubes compared to elemental metal.
