MPEG-4 Video Transmission via DAB: Error Detection and Error Concealment.

This paper presents a study of transmission of MPEG-4 coded video over the Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system. Due to the fact that mobile channels are prone to higher rate of errors and in order to guarantee a high quality continuous service at the video decoder side, some error detection and concealment methods integrated in the MPEG-4 video decoder are described. A method of temporal concealment for P-VOPs and a method for shape error concealment for I-VOPs are presented with results. The effects of undetected errors in the source decoder are investigated and the use of an outer RS code for error detection is suggested.
