Sketch-Based 3D Model Retrieval Using Attributes

Withtherapidgrowthofavailable3DmodelsontheInternet,howtoretrieve3Dmodelsbasedon hand-drawnsketchretrievalarebecomingincreasinglyimportant.Thisarticleproposesanewsketchbased3Dmodelretrievalapproach.Thisapproachisdifferentfromcurrentmethodsthatmakeuse oflow-levelvisualfeaturestocapturethesearchintentionofusers.Theproposedmethodusestwo kindsofsemanticattributes,includingpre-definedattributesandlatentattributes.Specifically,predefinedattributesaredefinedmanuallywhichcanprovidepriorknowledgeaboutdifferentsketch categoriesandlatent-attributesaremorediscriminativewhichcandifferentiatesketchcategoriesat afinerlevel.Therefore,thesesemanticattributescanprovideamoredescriptiveanddiscriminative meaningfulrepresentationthanlow-levelfeaturedescriptors.Theexperimentresultsdemonstrate thatthisproposedmethodcanachievesuperiorperformanceoverpreviouslyproposedsketch-based 3Dmodelretrievalmethods.
