802.11 Wireless Network Real-time Handover Technique Survey

802.11 standards provide a handover technique which meets requirements of application services without real-time requirements application,and it does not support the applications of video and audio in Internet.By studying handover for wireless network based on 802.11 technique,this paper introduces the definition,procedure and delay analysis of handover.Aiming at trigger phase and scan phase,it presents the real-time handover techniques such as smart trigger,neighbor graphs and SyncScan,and compares them with the current handover techniques in the terms of principle,algorithm and effect.
