A novel working approach to the assessment of wind loads for equivalent static design

Abstract A working approach for the fully probabilistic assessment of wind loads is extended from the original first-order form, to admit multiple-order corrections. The solution is obtained by a “Monte Carlo” method, replacing the former integral method. It is shown that five orders are sufficient for practical design cases, that the maximum likely error of the first-order integral method was a 7.6% underestimate, but that the error was less than 1% for 87% of practical design cases.
