Mathematical Optimization Techniques for Mass Integration

Chapter 18 presents mathematical optimization techniques for mass integration including mass-exchange interception and rerouting of targeted species throughout the process. The emphasis in this chapter is on targeting pollution at the heart of the plant rather than dealing with pollutants in terminal waste streams. The chapter also provides a mathematical framework for tackling pollution as a multimedia (multiphase) problem.
