WDM/SDM of intensity‐type fiber‐optic sensors

A novel method for multiplexing intensity-type fiber-optic sensors using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and spatial division multiplexing (SDM) is proposed and demonstrated. A variation of ±0.2 dB at a loss of −10.95 dB is obtained, which is comparable with that obtained by the traditional method. The experimental results show that the sensor at the up-leading fiber has no influence on the sensor at the down-leading fiber. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
