Automated IoT-based water quality measurement and analysis tool

Water quality affects all life: Starting from the smallest of micro-organisms to the largest. Water is a necessity for the survival of life and without it, it is hard to imagine our world. The maintenance of water is crucial to the sustainability and longevity of all life. In Bangladesh, one of the leading factors that affects health and poverty is water quality. We discuss the development and utilization of “Enviro-Sense monitor”, which is an IoT (Internet of Things) device that can track water quality data, and transmit it over a local Wi-Fi network. This data can be used to autonomously track the water quality over time and create a cluster of data points for further analysis. It was programmed and powered by an Arduino MKR1000, an LCD, a pH sensor, a temperature sensor and a UV index sensor. It is also solar powered and has rechargeable batteries. Built to withstand all climates, and completely waterproof, it is fully autonomous and requires minimal human intervention.
