A general framework for panel data models with an application to Canadian customer-dialed long distance telephone service

Abstract We provide a general framework that covers many panel data models as special cases. A Bayes solution to this general framework is derived, and its relation to many widely used estimation and prediction formulae is discussed. Canadian long distance telephone service data are used to illustrate the effects of different ways of controlling unobserved heterogeneity across routes on estimation and prediction.
