The genus Zaitunia is rediagnosed, and Z. schmitzi (Kulczynski, 1911), the type species and only representative of the genus in Israel, is redescribed. Z. schmitzi, known hitherto only from the type locality in Israel, is recorded from Egypt (Sinai, Mt. Catharina) for the first time as well as from new locali ties in Israel.
