Relationship Between LTE Broadcast/eMBMS and Next Generation Broadcast Television

This paper discusses the relationship between long-term evolution evolved multimedia broadcast/multicast service and next generation broadcast television. Many of the techniques that are well known within one technology are applicable to the other. Potentially, both systems may benefit from the techniques applied in the other. Some examples are provided and discussed. The implications for long-term spectrum planning are considered. Some recommendations are made with respect to appropriate actions to maximize the efficiency of the respective systems.
