Empirical research on human behavior change and digital intervention through maintaining one-way car-sharing

In this paper, we summarize our ongoing project called is3 (Incentive-based Intelligent Intervention for Smart and Sustainable Society), which was started from February 2016. This project is an empirical research aiming to utilize a human's behavior change for solving the social problems and maintaining our society sustainably. As a sample society, we have prepared one-way car-sharing system between our campus and the neighbor train station. The main problem of this society is the cost for ferrying cars, that is required for balancing the number of cars parked in each parking lot. To solve this problem, we propose to use a potential user by asking him/her to move a car.  In this paper, we explain the overview of this project, and challenging points for realizing the concept.
