Status of Ultrasonic Lens Development

This paper summarizes the current state of lens technology. The major lens types and their characteristics are discussed. The parameters controlling performance and practical materials of construction and fabrication techniques for multielement lenses are described. Lens prescriptions for high performance multielement lenses are provided with discussion of observed performance.
