Using pulsed activation to design a wide dynamic range PWM neuron circuit

A novel pulse stream neuron circuit is presented in this paper, and the width of its output pulse realizes sigmoid activation. The wide symmetrical dynamic range of this neuron ensures its high noise immunity. Pulsed activation is a novel power saving technique that is suited for various kinds of mixed-signal systems. This technique is introduced in the design of the circuit to form a power efficient architecture, which ensures very low power dissipation. The simplicity of the circuit also ensures its suitability for large-scale integration.
