Fuzzy-based linear motion control of a non-contacting steel plate conveyance system

For stabilizing the steel plate conveyance process, feasibilities of incorporating the linear induction motor scheme to provide the desired normal and propulsive forces have been intensively proposed. With proper optical measurement system installation and electromagnetic force estimations, those gaps among the steel plate and the stator poles can be continuously evaluated and adjusted. Based on such schemes and proper stationary reference frame transformations, this paper has successfully designed and implemented the closed-loop motion control strategy with fuzzy inference process to achieve the desired steel mill non-contacting conveyance system objectives.
