Communication Improvement and Traffic Control Based on V2I in Smart City Framework

This article describes how soft computing techniques are tolerant of imprecision, intended on approximation, focusonuncertaintyandarebasedonpartial truth.Current real-worldproblems pertainingtocongestedtrafficispervasivelyimpreciseandthereforedesignofsmarttrafficcontrol systemisachallengingissue.Duetotheincreasingrateofvehiclesattrafficpointsinsmartcities,it createsunexpecteddelaysduringtransit,chancesofaccidentsarehigher,unnecessaryfuelconsumption isanissue,andunhygienicenvironmentduetopollutionalsodegradesthehealthconditionofgeneral peopleinanormalcityscenario.Toavoidsuchproblemsmanysmartcitiesarecurrentlyimplementing improvedtrafficcontrolsystemsthatworkontheprincipleoftrafficautomationtopreventtheseissues. Thebasicchallengeliesintheusageofreal-timeanalyticsperformedwithonlinetrafficinformation andcorrectlyapplyingittosometrafficflow.Inthisresearcharticle,anenhancedtrafficmanagement systemcalledSCICS(SoftComputingbasedIntelligentCommunicationSystem)hasbeenproposed whichusesswarmintelligenceasasoftcomputingtechniquewithintelligentcommunicationbetween smartvehiclesandtrafficpointsusingthevehicletoinfrastructure(V2I)conceptofVANET.Itusesan improvedroutediversionmechanismwithimplementedlogicinnanorobots.Underavehicularad-hoc network(VANET)scenario,thecommunicationbetweenintelligentvehiclesandinfrastructurepoints takesplacethroughnanorobotsinacollaborativeway.SimulationcarriedoutusingNs2simulator showsencouragingresultsintermsofbetterperformancetocontrolthetraffic.
