Optimization of a multipurpose biotechnological plant containing a photobioreactor

The paper treats the optimization of a multipurpose biotechnological plant composed by a photobioreactor interconnected with an anaerobic digester. A comparative study of the results offered by deterministic and stochastic extremum seeking methods for the anaerobic digester optimization was achieved. The photobioreactor optimization assumes to ensure the optimal regime of the radiative transfer and thermodynamic subsystems, and the optimization of the photobioreactor productivity by a biomass control loop to an optimal setpoint. Results regarding the operation in optimal regime of the whole biotechnological plant are also presented.
