Adaptive Authoring of Adaptive Courses on the Semantic Desktop via Malleable Schemas

Adaptive, personalized courses are an important ingredient for advanced learning environments. Previous research has shown that, as the process of creating such adaptive courses is a tedious one, we should not only provide adaptation catering for the learner's needs, but also adaptation helping the creator and author of adaptive courses. In other words, there is a serious need of enabling not only adaptive courses, but also adaptive authoring. This adaptivity towards the author can be achieved in many ways, automatizing part of or whole processes the author has to perform, by automatically generating data, metadata, links, or strategies. In this paper we discuss adaptive authoring focusing on automatic enrichment of adaptive courses on the semantic desktop based on malleable schemas.
