Scapes, Holics, and Thons: The Semantics of English Combining Forms

L'A. examine les mots anglais tels que mountainscape, chocoholic, telethon, etc., qui resultent d'un melange de mots et dont le morpheme final est devenu tres productif. Dans un premier temps, il analyse les proprietes de ces neologismes et montre qu'elles ressemblent a celles des mots composes. Dans un deuxieme temps, il tente de determiner la place qu'ils occupent dans le reseau semantique et explore la possibilite selon laquelle ils induiraient une sorte de generalisation semantique, en s'appuyant sur des experiences psycholinguistiques. Enfin, il examine le probleme consistant a considerer ces affixes comme des morphemes lies
