Acousto-optic filters with arbitrary spectral transmission

Abstract We demonstrate a new method of use of acousto-optic filters consisting in adaptive modifying of the broadband arbitrary spectral transmission function of the device. The essence of the method consists in tailoring a complex-valued spectral transmission function of the acousto-optic filter and further calculating RF waveform that provides the desired spectrum. The performance of the method is experimentally demonstrated both for coherent and incoherent light.
