Partial Tear of the Posterior Deltoid Muscle in an Elderly Woman

Little has been reported on deltoid tears in the literature, with most cases associated with rotator cuff injuries. There has been one reported case of a young professional cricket player who had a deltoid rupture in the absence of massive rotator cuff tear. To our knowledge, posterior deltoid tears in the absence of rotator cuff tears in elderly, active patients have not been described in the literature. We present the case of an elderly female golfer who developed a posterior deltoid tear in association only with tendinosis of the supraspinatus tendon.
