An automatic hexahedral mesh generation method for hexahedral elements towards rotating machine

Abstract We have proposed an automatic mesh generator for hexahedral elements previously. This technique can be applied to almost all models. However, if it is applied to a cylindrical model, its mesh, which contains many flat elements, is generated. Using such mesh, it is time consuming to perform finite element analysis (FEA) and its result may not have enough accurate. Therefore, an automatic mesh generator for cylindrical models is required. In this paper, the hexahedral mesh generation method for cylindrical models is proposed. In this method, by using cylindrical coordinate system, the mesh with well-shaped hexahedral elements is generated even for complicated analysis domain.
