More Than Just Coding? Evaluating CAQDAS in a Discourse Analysis of News Texts

Computerunterstutzte qualitative Datenanalyse-Software (CAQDAS) wird haufig als Werkzeug fur qualitative Forschung generell beschrieben, wobei "qualitative Forschung" meist als homogene Kategorie behandelt wird. Nur wenige Studien haben sich mit der Tauglichkeit von CAQDAS fur spezifische Methoden beschaftigt, und ein noch kleinerer Teil mit der Nutzung von CAQDAS im Feld der Diskursanalyse (DA). In der Regel wird in solchen Studien kurz angemerkt, dass aus CAQDAS technische Begrenzungen fur die Diskursanalyse erwachsen, eine hieruber hinausgehende Beschaftigung fehlt jedoch meist. In dem vorliegenden Beitrag soll untersucht werden, ob das geringe Interesse an CAQDAS auf Seiten der Diskursanalytiker(innen) bzw. umgekehrt an Diskursanalyse auf Seiten der CAQDAS-Nutzer(innen) praktische Grunde hat bzw. aus der Unsicherheit uber Analyseverfahren (wie DA) erwachst, oder ob es sich um eine methodologische Inkompatibilitat handelt. Um diese Frage zu beantworten, wird zum einen die vorliegende Literatur zu CAQDAS und Diskursanalyse gesichtet, zum anderen wird CAQDAS auch einer praktischen Prufung unterzogen, indem entlang der eigenen Erfahrungen als Diskursanalytiker(innen) einige der bekanntesten Software-Tools an einer Medienanalyse von Nachrichtentexten geprobt werden.
