Difference: a key to enrich knowledge - Concepts and Models

The aim of the chapter is to show that differences among several agents can have positive effects in so far as they may generate original solutions and be a basis for aglobai enrichment of the agents’ knowledge. Philosophical foundations of cooperation and of the positive aspects of conflicts are first explained. Our contribution next consists in i) a formal model devoted to the representation of the knowledge exchanged by the agents and to thecharacterization of their common knowledge; ii) a formal and implemented model allowing the dynamic process of common knowledge elaboration to be represented.
