Interdiscipinary Postgradate and Continuous Eduction for Control and Systems Engineers - Recent European Experiences

Abstract Professional engineers have been claiming that they need interdisciplinary strategies to solve problems of automation and control in practice. Hence some university courses offer truly interdisciplinary options of teaching and research for engineering graduates. As an example, the University of Technology (RWTH) Aachen, Germany, has established a new research field within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. This programme integrates engineering graduates into projects which develop in parallel, technology and organization.
