Accelerated 3-D graphics in an XFree86 environment

Hardware accelerated PC graphics adapters costing less than three hundred dollars are now capable of rendering complex 3-D scenes in real-time. However, software support for these adapters has been slow to evolve in Linux. In this paper we describe an architecture that we have developed and used with success in providing accelerated rendering support for the Permedia 2.
