Multivoice subsectional wavelets creating sparse matrices in the moment method applied to coupled microstrips.

Abstract In this paper a new multivoice wavelet based on the Haar wavelet and on Alperts wavelet is introduced to discretise a one-dimensional linear integral equation. It is shown how this wavelet leads to a sparse system matrix when applying Galerkin's method. The eigenmode analysis of coupled microstrips is used to illustrate our approach. The influence of the sparsity of the system matrix on the accuracy of the values obtained for the propagation factors and impedances of the odd and even mode of the strip is examined in detail.
