Power-supply performance of piezoelectric generator for remote control

A piezoelectric electrical-energy generator was presented to provide endless and real-time electrical energy for remote control.In view of the operating method and load performance of remote control,the two exciting methods,pulse-excitation and press-excitation,were utilized to impulse a piezoelectric cantilever generator to generate electrical energy.The influence of electrical energy generation and Effective Duration of Power Supply(EDPS) of the two exciting methods on constant current load was investigated experimentally.The results show that the piezoelectric generator can obtain more electric energy and longer EDPS by pulse-excitation than that by press-excitation.When pulse-excitation is used,the EDPS decreases with the increasing of the current load.At the same time,there is an optimal natural frequency for the piezoelectric generator to obtain the longest EDPS on condition that the current load is constant.The electrical energy from the piezoelectric generator in size of 50 mm×50 mm×0.5 mm is up to 1.2 mJ,which is enough for a car remote control,and the information-transfer distance is longer than 15 m.
