GENETIC DETERMINANTS OF PROSTATE CANCER RISK

Among all epithelial tumours, prostate cancer has one of the strongest genetic components [1,2]. Identifying the genetic factors responsible for this risk will shed light on the basis of disease development and potentially lead to new strategies for prevention, screening and treatment. However, until recently, identifying a genetic locus that is reproducibly associated with prostate cancer has proved difficult.
